INSTRUCTIONS
This is our first annual Rehearse-A-Thon for ALL El Toro High School Royal Blue Regiment Marching Band and Color Guard students. Money collected as sponsorships will be CREDITED TO YOUR STUDENT ACCOUNT. It can be used to pay for music and color guard program related expenses such as contributions and trips. All checks should be collected prior to the Rehearse-A-Thon event on Saturday, 9/17/11.
How to Find Sponsorships & Raise Money to Meet Your Goal
The first step to raising money is establishing a goal for the amount of money you hope to raise. The Rehearse-A-Thon goal for each student is $200. Next, contact family members, friends, neighbors, your parents’ associates, local business owners, etc. A sample sponsorship letter you can copy and send to distant family members is included in this packet. People will be more willing to sponsor you if they understand the purpose of the donation and your level of involvement in the program. Explain that all money collected will be used to defray the costs not covered by school district funding.
How to Explain the Fundraiser to Sponsors
Always introduce yourself as a member of the El Toro High School Royal Blue Regiment. Explain you are seeking sponsors for the REHEARSE-A-THON, a 7-hour marathon of marching execution and music performance on the high school stadium field. The REHEARSE-A-THON is an opportunity for the Royal Blue Regiment to perfect its 2011 show and raise the money needed to cover the costs of marching season. You are looking for sponsors to donate from $1 to $10 per hour. Emphasize PER HOUR. Tell them your goal is to raise $200.
It is preferable to collect the money at the time of sponsorship, but you can collect it after the event as well. Explain the donation may be tax-deductible (to check with their tax advisor) and you can provide a receipt (if requested) after completion of the Rehearse-A-Thon.
Fundraiser Details
· This packet includes a sample sponsorship letter and a tally sheet. Record the name of each sponsor and the amount given on the tally sheet.
· Please consolidate any cash sponsorships and have your parent(s) write one check for that amount.
· Place all checks in a large envelope labeled with your name. All checks should include your name in the memo section. This will ensure you receive credit for the correct amount.
· All checks should be made out to ETHS IMPB (El Toro High School Instrumental Music and Pageantry Boosters).
· Bring your envelope with all tally sheets and checks to the REHEARSE-A-THON the morning of September 17th. Turn them in as you enter the Band Room.
THIS FUNDRAISER WORKS, but you must make the effort! It is entirely possible to raise $300 to $400 with this fundraiser. If you get 10 sponsors at $5.00 per hour, you collect $350.00 for your individual account! How much do you want to raise?

· Local professionals and merchants – dentist, doctor, banker, tire dealer, car dealer, insurance agent, music store, private music instructors, restaurant owners, shoe stores, etc.
· Coaches, group leaders
· Church
· Your parents’ workplace – this works!
· Teachers and office staff at El Toro High School or the Middle School you last attended
· Write or email out of town relatives & friends
